Hong Kong

I have never been to Hong Kong until two months ago. Chinese people from mainland China traveling to Hong Kong still need a visa. Before we applying a visa for Hong Kong was not easier than applying a visa for Germany. In recent years, there are more and more mainland Chinese going to Hongkong to do shopping, whom brought big economy to Hongkong, so the visa applying process is getting simpler than before.

Right now because of my job requirements, I will need to go to Hong Kong often. So far I have been to there only twice, so except the area of our hotel I haven't been to so many tourists places. I am waiting to go together with Martin one day to explore the attractions. When I am alone, I prefer to spend my time in the shopping malls.

This is the boat we took to another island where the big shopping mall located. Taking this boat is much cheaper than taking the subways. It costed only 2.5 HK Dollar. Hongkong is a heaven for our girls. Delicious foods and many shops. The shops are open until very late(most of them open until 23:00).
Walking on the streets and in the shopping centers, I can always hear people speaking mandarin. Just like me, people in all the shops are mostly come from mainland. The sales people are also speak good mandarin. Shopping shopping...............

In the first two trips, my main focus was at the local foods. I tried many of the local foods in small restaurants with my colleague. The second time after two days eating local food, I felt a little bit sick to my stomach. Until then, I started to miss the simple German bread.
One night I couldn't sleep due to the time difference, then I decided to go out to see how the early morning looks like in Hongkong. At about 4 a.m, there are already some people started to work, and near the hotel there are some restaurants open 24 hours.
The real estate in Hongkong. I heard the local people are very stressful because of the expensive apartments. But I think the people in mainland are having more stree for the apartments now.

  1. I'm curious Ling Ling.. where do the flight attendants such as you stay in Hong Kong? From your hotel it looks older, so I guess you're staying in Kowloon side?

If you have time, I recommend taking a Ferry to Lamma Island 南丫島 or going to the countryside.. it is very different from the big city Hong Kong.

Yes, quite true, there are now a lot of visitor's from the mainland and they like to buy goods in Hong Kong as they trust that what they buy are genuine and wholesome eg baby formulas, etc.
It was reported to me by a friend that even Disneyland Hong Kong sells baby formula to tourists from the mainland!

  4. Hi Andy:Most crew like us stay in the hotels in Causeway Bay.The hotel is quite old but very convenient as it's located in the area of shopping centers.I would love to go to the countryside of Hongkong have a look.I will try to see more sights other than only shopping next times.

By the way, news said many people coming from mainland to Hongkong buying baby milk as there had milk scandals in mainland.
